A flying visit: London Coffee Festival
It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted on Oblique Exposure. It’s been busy here – we now have a third member of the family to deal with, who naturally takes up most of our time. Most of my photography these days is via my phone, but today on a brief trip to London I remembered to take the little Sony camera with me too. I love wandering around London, and usually whenever I have the time I always prefer to walk than take the tube (often it’s not much longer – and sometimes even quicker). Today I wandered over to Shoreditch and the Old Truman Brewery for the London Coffee Festival.
I started off with by walking to Prufrock where I completed a barista training course some time ago. I never got to try a flat white when I was there before and they are supposedly legendary. So here we are. Given I was going to a coffee festival I probably should have had a non-caffeinated drink before I got there!
And walking over to Shoreditch from Leather Lane took me through the square mile.
Having learnt my lesson about queues and the London Coffee Festival a few years ago I made sure I was there early this time. A beautiful sunny day in London. 
Since I was quite early I had a wander around Shoreditch as there’s always a lot of street art to explore.
And then I made another mistake, I stopped by the Nude Espresso Roastery to sample their batch brew.
So now I was already sufficiently caffeinated I headed into the festival which considering it was ‘trade professionals’ only today became extremely busy very quickly. I have drank a lot of vanilla lattes in my life nd that’s mainly due to these syrups – for some reason I only like the monin one.
Interesting to see the various Lavazza beans on offer.
And good to see plenty of reusable coffee cups on offer. I may have acquired another one…
I was technically at the Festival for work purposes as ‘research’. If you’re interested this is the flyers I had made for my research blog.
There are lots of competitions taking place at the Festival. They’re fun to watch even if they do seem to be quite chaotic in the midst of the festival.
As well as lots of independent coffee companies, some of the big names were there too. They had a selection of cold coffees on offer. 
Good to see that the festival was taking part in the #SquareMileChallenge to increase the amount of coffee cups that are recycled. 
I even found time to play around with some of the camera settings and try out some black and white photos for this latte art creation. 
I’ve been tempted for a while to get one of these, but I really don’t need any more coffee equipment!
I’m not a particular fan of cold brew coffee, but it always looks interested when being made. 
And after a rather large amount of coffee sampling (including a rather strange tumeric latte which I’m still not sure if I liked or not), I headed back out to make the journey home.
A rather long post, but a signal hopefully that I will find time for photography again – I now just have a little side-kick to bring with me.
