Triple Ace

There were many highlights to the day at Duxford – the Spring Air show which commemorated the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the 78th Fighter Group of the United States Army Air Forces to RAF Duxford in April 1943. One of these highlights was the opportunity to meet Colonel ‘Bud’ Anderson a triple ace fighter pilot who survived 116 missions between 1943-45. He was a special guest at the event and was taking some time to talk to people and sign autographs at the IWM tent. He kindly allowed Carlos to take this photograph.

He also signed our copy of the ‘Instructions for American Servicemen in Britain 1942’ which was somewhat ironic as he told us that while these were supposedly given to every American servicemen on arrival in Britain, he didn’t receive one.
