Yesterday I was in London and happened to stumble upon the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. It’s by far the best Christmas market I’ve seen in the UK. It actually is a lot more than just a market – there’s a fun fair, an ice rink and even a circus.
The Ice Age 4 ice rink was big, but busy and we decided simply to observe for a while rather than take to the ice.
Some people were clearly better at this than others. I only actually saw one person fall over though!
There were lots of the usual Christmas market food stalls – plus a few extras. The shot below shows one of salmon stalls. I only had the Fujifilm X10 with me, but I was quite impressed at how it captured the flames in the shot.
And then there was the obligatory cup of mulled wine in the Christmas market – this was one was in a ‘traditional Bavarian village’ complete with loud German music. NB: The cherry mulled wine was lovely!
I didn’t quite manage to convince my mother that she wanted to go on this….
So, an unexpected trip to the Winter wonderland was a nice extra to the trip to London.
