I find it fascinating to observe the sort of behavioural adaptation animals go through when living in close proximity to humans. Park animals and pets in particular seem to quickly understand how to make the best of co-habitation.

There’s the enquiring type: “I beg you pardon madam, but you wouldn’t happen to have any food about your person, would you?”

Then there is the nice and friendly “Hi again Joe, thanks for dropping by with dinner” type:

And finally there’s the “I love you so much because you make a wonderful pillow” kind:

People do the most amazing things for their pets as well. We watched as that guy stayed in that position in a very crowded part of Saint James Park for more than 20 minutes, just so his Labrador could have a nice nap. It was one of the sweetest things we’ve seen in ages.
