From the Archives: Pageant of Power
Today a selection of photos from a taster for the Pageant of Power events. This was held in Liverpool back in 2010 along one of the main throughroads in the city centre. Essentially a series of high powered vehicles going up and down in front of huge crowds – it was much more fun that it sounds.
The Ferrari in the first image is a little blurred -but given that this was moving at the time not too bad.
Now when I took this picture I had no idea who the man was. Turns out the ‘funny man in the hat’ was actually Bernie Ecclestone the Formula 1 boss!
This turned out to be one of my favourite images from the day, capturing the flames but also the haze around the flames due the heat.
There were some aerial displays too. This helicopter hovered just above the Liverpool One shopping centre.
And there were even some people on top of the planes. Such a lovely sunet shot!
For most of the evening I was standing on a balcony with a reasonable view over the road, while others took to other means to get a good view. This cannot have been comfortable.
